Terms of service
DRAFT, not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Last updated: [date].
1. What the service is
SeatPing is a notification tool. A browser extension checks class availability from your own browser, using your own Student Central sign-in, and we alert you when a seat you're watching opens. It does not enroll you, hold seats, or take any action in your student account.
2. Not affiliated with FSU
The service is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Florida State University. FSU's systems, policies and class availability are outside our control.
3. Your responsibilities
- Use the service only for your own classes, with your own account.
- Follow your university's rules, including its acceptable-use policies.
- Don't modify the extension to check more often, enroll automatically, or access anyone else's account.
- Keep your contact details accurate, and only add a phone number you're allowed to use.
4. No guarantee
We can't promise a seat will open, that you'll be alerted in time, or that you'll get the seat. Checks only run while your computer is on, Chrome is open, and you're signed in to Student Central. Texts, calls and emails can be delayed by carriers. The service is provided "as is".
5. Fair-use rules
Alerts work from 10:00 AM Eastern on the first day of registration for each term. Checks run no more than about every 5 minutes. Plans have class limits (free trial: 1 day, 2 classes; semester: 8 classes). Free semesters may have a limited number of spots; when they are taken, the semester is full.
6. Payment and refunds
Some semesters are free (for example, a pilot, or free for a limited number of students). For paid semesters, the price shown at checkout applies; a lower early-bird price applies if you buy before registration opens or during its first 3 days. A semester plan is a one-time payment for the named semester and does not renew. If the service didn't work for you, email us within 7 days of purchase for a full refund.
7. Texts and calls
By turning on texts or calls, you agree to receive automated alerts at the number you give. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts; turn off calls in the extension.
8. Ending the service
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. If we must stop the service (for example, at the university's request), we'll refund the unused part of the current semester.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you paid us for the current semester.
